The Tale of two challenges
I really am enjoying finding stamping challenges this week. I’m going to commit myself, after this week, to do at least one a week. I think attempting a full week of challenges will be too daunting weekly. Not only do I not necessarily have the time to create that frequently weekly, the search itself is time consuming. For my next card I really wanted to do attempt Kristina Werner’s color inspiration. I love her work and her eye for color combinations is unique and always on par. So…the colors I was choosing were based on her Inspiration #56
The colors she’d noted were a deep red, pumpkin, saffron, celery and ballet blue. I then needed to find sketch. A sketch is layout for a card. I often just put pieces together and see what “works”, but honestly having a sketch sometimes can be an easier way to create. I was inspired by Beate Johns who completed a Weekend Sketch Challenge #89. Her card is NOTHING like the one I ultimately made–honestly her work is SOO much better then mine–but I love her blog and when I saw the sketch I knew it would be one I could work with. So…using those two challenges, I created the following card:
To create this card I used the following recipe: Stamp set: Love You much
Paper: Riding Hood Red, Candy Lane Designer Paper, Certainly Celery, Ballet Blue, Whisper White
Ink: Pumpkin Pie, So Saffron, Certainly Celery, Riding Hood Red, Ballet Blue
Accessories: Fairy Tales Riboon (So Saffron), 3 heart punch
The color Riding Hood Red is no longer available through Stampin’ Up!, nor is the ribbon or designer paper I used, but I have tons of those products leftover, and thought they would be great for this card. For personal creations, I do sometimes use paper or accessories that can no longer be purchased, however, if anything seen interests you…there are always similar items that Stampin’ Up! sells and I can assist you with finding these products.
My final goal of this week will be to create something using Onyxstamps.com primary colors from the Color Inspiration–Summer River as well as this week’s Taylored Expressions Cupcake Challenge. Whether I do one card to meet both challenges, or two seperate items….you’ll have to come back and see!
