Heading OUT

January 16, 2009

I am MORE then excited.  In less then 12 hours I leave my apartment to head for my upcoming adventures of this weekend.  I’m going to fly to Philadelphia to see friends and begin my INAUGURAL WEEKEND festivities.  I am seeing a lot of friends I haven’t seen in awhile, and do plan to be on the Mall in Washington on Tuesday as the oath of office is taken.  I know I will be one of MANY out there..and won’t necessarily hear/see the oath and speech in the same way I would on the TV, but that will be re-played and I’ll be part of the action!

While all of this is happening, this weekend is also the final weekend of sales for Stampin’ Up!’s Fall/Winter Catalog and on Monday, January 19th at 12:00MDT the NEW Spring/Summer Catalog will be released!!  This weekend will be your LAST CHANCE to get many stamp sets and accessories.  If you are interested in purchasing anything this weekend, go directly to my website to place your order  http://jessh.stampinup.net as I won’t be in constant contact with my email.  And, I would HIGHLY suggest you check out the site on Monday or Tuesday to view the new products and catalog.  There are some AMAZING new stamp sets and accessories being released.  If you are interested in getting a personal catalog…contact me!!

I need to awake early for my flight, so time for some downtime, and sleep.

Exhausted, but EXCITED!!!

January 13, 2009

Today my Saturday late night caught up to me and I am COMPLETELY exhausted!!  Yesterday I ended up having one of my two customers come to make the All Occasions Card Class, and tonight the second customer came, so they are completed!  On top of it…my NEW CATALOGS came!!! On Monday at 2pm EST (12 MDT) the New Spring/Summer Catalog will go “live” and be available for customers.  Let me just say….it is GORGEOUS.  The stamp sets are adorable, and the accessories are TO DIE FOR!!  They also have come out with a number of new elements and simply sent kits. These are GREAT for the crafter who doesn’t want to do the prep work for the paper.  It’s all been done for you (kinda like when you have a workshop or class with me!!)  I’m sitting watching “Idol” and creating a HUGE wish list for myself!! Wait until you see what I’ll be demonstrating  and sharing this year…….

All Occasion Card Class 2

January 11, 2009

Since my day has been completely shifted, I’ve actually gotten a bunch accomplished, even though I am really tired!  Another resolution I’d had was to unclutter my apartment.  I often frequent the website Unclutter and they had a great tip of spending 30 minutes a day uncluttering/cleaning SOMETHING.  I haven’t been great about this DAILY, but have been better then typical (for me.)  I just set an timer for 30 minutes and I actually got a lot of little things picked up. I also went and unloaded my car with the items for the class and took pictures of the cards I had. I uploaded a watermark software so I can begin posting pictures with the © symbol on this site…to make sure I am in full compliance with Stampin’ Up!© guidelines.

The following cards and descriptions are all the cards that will be completed by customers in the next few days for a January All Occasions Card Class that my friend and upline Amy and I are hosting. Due to the weather, as was noted, we will be completing them with our separate groups.   If you happen across this blog, and are interested in any of the products, check out my right side bar for ordering information. If you are reading this from a direct link, or reader, go to my home page for contact and purchasing information.  AND…if you’d like to have a class where you and your friends make similar cards, or order a set of completed card..let me know!

This card is a simple friendship card: Season of FriendshipRecipe:Stamp set: Season of Friendship

Paper: Sage shadow, Chocolate Chip, Whisper White, Autumn Vines DSP

Ink: Sage Shadow, Chocolate Chip, Pretty in Pink, Real Rust, More Mustard

Accessories: Chocolate Felt Ribbon (from the Alpine Ribbon collection), dimensionals

3/4″ square punch

Many of these items area available out of the Holiday Mini and will no longer be able to be purchased after January 18th.  If you are interested in the items….act fast!

This card is a really simple Thank You card:

Say It With Scallops Thank You

Recipe:Stamp set: Say it With Scallops

Paper: Tangerine Tango, Close to Cocoa, Very Vanilla, Frosty DSP

Ink: Close to Cocoa

Accessories: Scallop Edge punch, Square Scallop punch, bashful blue ribbon, dimensionals

I’m finding that this design is becoming my “go to” thank you card.  I’ve made it multiple times with differing designer paper and colors.  It is simple to create, yet, I feel, with the scalloping and medallion, it appears more challenging.

These last three cards were created by Amy. This is a beautiful card that could be used for multiple occasions.  The interior of this particular card says “Thinking of you” from the Sincere Salutations stamp set.  I’m not sure the photo gives this card justice. The flowers are “popped” up and are BEAUTIFUL. Inspired by Nature, Thinking of you

Recipe:Stamp set: Inspired by Nature, Sincere Salutations (inside)

Paper: Whisper White, Basic Black

Ink: Basic Black

Accessories: dimensionals

This next card is a fun birthday card that can be used anytime for multiple ages.  When I initially saw the stamp set in the catalog, I thought I would never use it, as I don’t have children, and it comes across as a more child friendly set.  However…I’ll definitely use this card for someone…..and not necessarily a child!

Simple Birthday Thanks

Recipe:Stamp set: Simple Birthday Thanks, Happy Everything (inside)

Paper: Whisper White, Bella Rose DSP

Ink: Chocolate Chip, Riding Hood Red (or Rose Red for the cherry),

Accessories: Pink cosmo glitter, two-way glue pen, pretty in pink 1/4″grosgrain ribbon

Technique: Paper piecing

This last card uses the Valentines Bundle that is on special for 20% off until January 31st. Love You much

Recipe:Stamp set: Love You Much

Paper: Close to Cocoa, Very Vanilla, Candy Lane DSP, Riding Hood Red, Pink Pirouette

Ink: Close to Cocoa, Riding Hood Red, Pink Pirouette

Accessories: Three Heart Punch, Alpine Ribbon, dimensionals

I hope those making these cards enjoy them as much as I do!  I really think that having a set like this is a great asset to anyone’s card inventory, and making them yourself is so rewarding!

It is now time for me to try to get a nap in my day or else I will not be very productive in my “real” job tomorrow….teaching!!

All Occasions Card Class

January 11, 2009

First a BIG THANK YOU to onyxstamps for helping me put this site together late into the night this morning.  I had some frustrations as I’m not a natural web developer, but I’m glad with what I have so far and I know this is the right host for me.  This morning I’ve awoken, after about 4 hours of sleep, to a bunch of snow. It’s light and flufffy, and less  then expected, but still a nuisance.  Furthermore, I have a card class to co-host this morning.  I absolutely LOVE All Occasions Card Classes. I enjoy designing for them, and when do you not need cards?? This morning we will be making 5 designs.  A note card, a thank you, a get well (or thinking of you) card, a birthday card and since Valentine’s Day is coming soon, a “Love You” type card.  Stampin’ Up! is running a special on the Love You Much Bundle this month.  Check out my promotion link on the right hand side to see what else is on special this month!  Later today I’ll post pictures of the cards made.  Time for me to run and get my car cleaned off!!

UPDATE: Due to the snow the card class has been post-poned.  I have some people coming by tomorrow to do the projects, so MAY still get the photos up later.  But…given the change of my schedule, it gives me time to get some other work done around the house.

Getting Started

January 11, 2009

With a New Year, resolutions ensue. I’ve made a number of those this year, and do feel as if I will work toward many of them in a productive, successful manner. I even purchased the book “This Year I Will…” by M. J. Ryan to help me keep my resolutions. One of my thoughts for this year is that I want to stamp as much for pleasure as I do for business. I also would like to post more of that information publicly for my customers, or anyone else looking at this blog. So far this year I have done a lot of creating. Here is one of my favorites so far this year:

This card was created with one of my favorite stamp sets from the Holiday Mini, Season of Friendship. The card base is Brocade Blue with glossy White on top. I then used a brayer to create the sky. I blended multiple inks to create the contrast…Brocade Blue, Ballet Blue and Night of Navy. I’d torn a scrap piece of paper to cover the bottom, to create the snow and stamped the tree in Versamark and Black. I then used clear embossing on the tree to give it some dimension. The ribbon is Night of Navy. All supplies for this card can be found on my website http://jessh.stampinup.net One of my other BIG goals for this year is to take BETTER photographs. I promise…I’ll work on that. Until that time…please bear with me, and enjoy my creations!
