How CUTE!!

September 1, 2009

Tonight is the night before my reporting back to school. My summer goals of doing more stamping really didn’t occur as I’d hoped, but I did have a decent summer, and “technically” I still have a few more days of some form of freedom.  I have 2 days of professional time and then an extra long 4 day weekend before my students begin on Tuesday.  I am going to keep this post short because I’ve had a lot of internet issues today, but I just have to talk about the Brand New Holiday Mini catalog! When my friends Amy and Katy returned from the annual Stampin’ Up! Convention they could not stop talking about the Build A Bear Sizzix dies and projects that could be made with these.  To use these products you do need the Sizzix Big Shot, which Stampin’ Up! sells, and I happen to have…so I ordered them and have fallen in love.  They are PERFECT for some form of nametag for my students!  They are universal bears, and then you dress them any way you desire!  These are two I made this evening.  I will make the remainder prior to my students coming to class.  I plan to put their name on the shirts. I probably will just write them with a dark marker, though I may use my label maker.

If you are interested in these bears, the Designer paper they have as their clothing or anything else in the Holiday Mini, or from Stampin’ Up! feel free to contact me or place an ORDER Online! To all teachers…..have a great start to the school year and I promise…I will keep posting!

Amazing News!

July 21, 2009

Do you remember this post What a Great Giveaway ? Well…though I wasn’t fortunate enough to win the wonderful EZ View Desktop ezViewDeskTop2my wonderful friend and downline Katy did!  Andrea Wolford posted the winner today…and it was Katy from Onxystamps! Katy’s original post inspired me to also post…which I guess assisted in her win!  I’m so happy for her! Maybe when I go visiting I’ll get to see it and play with it too!

Second Challenge of the Week

July 14, 2009

This morning I awoke REALLY early and had a decently long “to do” list to try to get to.  Some of the items included: finish unpacking from my trip, clean the kitchen, vacuum, work on my blog, complete another stamp challenge, sort some clothes for good will, and go to Staples and the grocery store.  The ONLY items on this list that got completed were cleaning the kitchen, working on my blog and completing another stamp challenge!  I guess being on “summer vacation” means I find I can put some things off!! The weather was gorgeous today, so I did spend a good part of the day outside.  Tomorrow I have a lot of little errands planned, including lunch with friends, so I KNOW I’ll be out and about and get more items accomplished.  I may not get to stamping tomorrow though…I meeting a friend out in the evening to catch up as well as give her some Stampin’ Up! Inspiration.  If I don’t do a challenge…I’ll combine two on my next challenge of the week!

I was searching for something to do for my challenge and I chose the Stamp Something: Pink, Green and Yellow challenge.  I wanted to continue to use my new “toys” that I’d received but hadn’t used. One of the stamp sets I’d received when I was able to pre-order some items (a perk one gets as a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator) was the Level three Hostess set The More the Merrier.  This set has some GREAT images and sayings.  I really like the cupcakes, but wasn’t so sure about having them horizontal.  I envisioned using them vertically.  There are multiple ways one can use a stamp to change the direction of an image, but tonight I went an “easy” way.  I just stamped the image in black on Whisper White cardstock and then colored all the cupcakes in.  I then cut them out and mounted them on my card using dimensionals.  I also chose to use  the new In-colors for my pink and yellow.  I KNOW that the picture could be clearer, but I wanted to post it TONIGHT.  If I get a better picture taken in natural light, I’ll edit this and add a better picture.  Without further ado….here is my submission for the Stamp Something Challenge:

Stamp Something Challenge: Pink, Yellow and Green

Stamp Something Challenge: Pink, Yellow and Green

Recipe: Paper: Garden Green (dimension is 4 1/4 x7), Melon Mambo, Razzleberry Designer Paper, Whisper White            Ink: Garden Green, Basic Black, Melon Mambo, Soft Suede, Chocolate Chip, Close to Cocoa                                                  Stamp Set: The More the Merrier         Accessories: Melon Mambo Polka Dot Ribbon, Modern label punch

I chose the Garden Green because it happened to be on my stamp table from last night…but I really think it worked.  I really like the little cupcakes! I’m not sure what I’ll do with this card, but I like that I now have it on hand if needed, and the little sentiment “sweetest ever” could go for some many people and occasions.  Next mission will be to find a sketch challenge to tackle, and incorporate another color challenge, or other type of challenge within the card!

Quick Thank You!

Take a look at my new banner!! How cute?!?!  And not as “scary” as the big black eyes!!  The cat is mine (Espresso!) and I HAD to have her be part of the banner, given this blog is named for her!  My friend Kate offered to help me create a new, better banner.  She really thought about my personality, what I like and how I’d want to be represented.  THANK YOU! for helping out.  Isn’t it cute??

A New Day

July 3, 2009

It’s 8:00am and I’m already procrastinating!  I have made the decision to head to the beach for the upcoming weekend/week, but have NO motivation to pack!  I KNOW that once I get there, assuming the weather shifts, I’ll have relax and enjoy myself…it’s just the anticipation that’s killing me.  I have NO CLUE what to pack and what/if any of my stampin’ stuff I should bring. I have plenty of room in my car, but I hate lugging everything.  I also am bringing my cat, which tends to be stressful as well.  I’m going to set a goal for myself…..begin packing clothes and “necessities” around 9am and see how much that adds up to.  THEN…I’ll decide. I have to PLAN a project if I’m going to bring my SU! stuff, otherwise I’ll bring way too much without any direction.  I’ll keep this blog posted regarding my decisions, and if I do make or create anything, I’ll be sure to upload and show it!

I’m Back!

July 2, 2009

The school year got away from me and I kinda forgot about this site. Now that summer  I’m recommitting to updating this site and keeping it current! A  Brand New Stampin’ Up! catalog has been released and I am ready for tons of new projects. I’m so excited for this catalog and all of the New In-Colors and new accessories that are in it. One goal for this summer is to do multiple challenges through blogs that I read as well as a lot of personal stampin’.

Over the past months I have been doing a lot of stamping. A main focus of a lot of my work was creating very special projects for one of my closest friends as they were getting married. Their colors were yellow and light blue, so much of what I created used the Stampin’ Up! colors So Saffron and Bashful Blue. Here was the first item I created, my friend Jen’s shower card:

I used the stamp set “Once Upon A Time” as well as the Big Shot Top Note Die. The wedding dress is from an older, retired, hostess set from a number of years ago.

I then made 8 gift bags for her “Girls Night Out”.  A group of us went out to dinner and stayed downtown for the night, so the bag had some “essentials” like water, advil, mints and some snacks. This was the prototype bag. I kept it for myself. The others were similar….but much better. I used the “Cheers to You” stamp set along with the top note die.  The Designer Paper I used was from this year’s Sale-a-bration.

Lastly I created their wedding card. I stuck with the same colors and used the top note again, to match the shower card and gift bags. I used “Cheers to You” again along with a retired stamp set from a few catalogs ago. I used the technique of paper piecing. I embossed some flowers and colored them on very vanilla.  I then cut the layers out and pieced them onto the cake. The details are very hard to see on the photograph, but I truly think it came out well.  I also used the Bella Bleu Designer Paper which is still available in the present catalog.Erik wedding card

Following the wedding I made a frame for them. My friends met in Nantucket, and I was with them when they met. I feel as if I’ve experienced their relationship with them. It brought me great joy to create a special memory of their day, so I created the following frame:
Erik frame I used the Billboard Letters for the Big Shot to create the lettering and had re-matted the frame with some specialty Designer paper that had been in the Spring/Summer catalog.  The LOVE sentiment is a decor element.  I think it came out well, and they really liked it.

As the summer goes on, I intend to be posting more. So come back often, or subscribe to my blog, to see what I add!
